She saw him sweep the spider back into its hole and smiled at him. She hated spiders with a serious passion. She dipped her head, close to a bow but not so servile.
"Arigatou." She said. Then, realising that he might not have her interest in foreign language, began speaking again. "Arigatou means thank you in Japanese. I like learning little things in foreign languages. But thank you for making the spider go away... Spiders are creepy. I think that's the worst thing about this place, you can tell spiders have been all over it. I don't think it's haunted... I think the other people are all just making things up. Don't you?" Her speedy words left her breathless and she panted slightly to regain the oxygen she had used. Once that was done she turned to her bat and beckoned.
"Gormegon, come here. You're a fat little batty and you'll probably bring the roof down on us you silly." The bat let go of it's perch and attatched itself to her wrist with it's tiny, well clawed feet. It chittered softly, either insulted at her calling it fat or just feeling talkative. She didn't really mind, she just began to gently trace one finger up it's velvet furred chest and belly. She loved Gormegon almost more than her other pets, but not quiet.

After listening to a long explanation involving something to do with spiders and Japanese, Elod waited for Crystal to catch her breath before replying to her question. "No, I don't think it's haunted either. I thought there might be something else dangerous about this place, but aside from rotted floorboards it appears perfectly harmless," Elod stated, looking around the room curiously, "It looks as if it was some kind of hospital though? I'm not really sure; I never really payed attention to history in school." He watched as the bat, now identified as Gormegon, fluttered off from the rafters and alighted on Crystal's arm, chatting to her in it's own language. Clearly, Elod thought, whatever gene that caused hominids to bond with animals was missing from his DNA; although it did seem to be more prevalent in girls for some reason.

She tipped her head at him, he seemed so distant. He was a vampire, there was no doubting that, but he was nothing like her friend Jake. She did a little capper to get closer and stretched her arm out so that Gormegon was closer.
"Hehe, I bet everybody else is just too scared of their own shadows. Yeah... Or a jail... or an asylum... I don't know... it might have been a lab... Who knows? Who cares? It's not haunted, it's just dusty and rotting." Gormegon shrieked softly then and flapped off crazily.
"Eh? What's wrong Gormy? Is there something there?" She fell silent as a loud howl from outside told her what he had heard.
"Aww... already?" She sighed. "My friends are here, they're worried about me. I better grab something and go. Nice to meet you Mr. Springfield." She said. She grabbed one of the file-books and ran away to meet her friends outside.

Elod listened as a strong howl blew in through the entrance way, echoing soundly off the stone walls of the building. He had no reason to fear though; Crystal quickly explained that it was her friends waiting for her. Elod watched as she swept up one of the factual books off the shelf and left in a hurry. It took a minute for Elod to realize what she'd addressed him as, but when he did, he let out a small chuckle to himself, "Mr.Springfield?" He'd only ever been in one long term relationship in his life, and it hadn't ever gotten that far.
Avoiding a few spider webs and objects strewn across the unkempt floor, Elod sauntered back into the main area of the building. He supposed he had better leave now, and catch some dinner before dawn. After all, it had been a few days since his last meal. A wind was brewing up as he exited the ruins; whipping Elod's hair about wildly like a playful animal. The air could almost pass itself off for a wolf, Elod observed half mindedly, trudging once again through the woods and over dead twigs and leaf debris. Looking down the path, he could just see some dusky figures walking into the distance; Crystal and her crew.
