Crystal bounced and bounced through the forest on her own two feet. Her tartan-plaid skort and blue and orange checkered tank top flopped and flashed in the dying light of the setting sun as she made her way toward where the rumored ruins were. She had a yellow and purple polka-dotted sweater tied around her waiste and a vivid red hat sat on top of her head. She wore a goofy grin on her pale face as she lolloped through the woods. She slowed as she came within view of the ruins.
"It looks scarrier than I imagined..." She said softly to herself. She then shook herself off and ran forward, toward the open mouth that was the door. Her senses went on high alert as the sun slipped down and she was left in near darkness. 'Hehe... I bet none of my friends can say they're this brave. This place isn't scary... it's just cool lookin.' She thought to herself, ignoring the obvious evidance of her fear. Her racing heart and quickened breathing were proof that she was scared. 'I'll just take something that could only be from here back with me, that way nobody can doubt what I've done.'

As the sun was setting behind the sky, Elod was wandering through the woods, enjoying a temporary change of scenery from the smell and blinding artificial lights of the city. Pausing momentarily, Elod looked to the right, where his senses picked up another life form. Concentrating on the scent, he could identify that it was a female werewolf. Out of curiosity more than anything else, Elod sauntered close enough to watch the distant figure prancing over to some ruins, the ruins. Elod always had a hard time deciding whether he wanted to venture into them; he shunned the belief of anything supernatural, such as ghosts, but the possibility that there was something else dangerous in there stopped him in his tracks.
As he watched intently, it was apparent to him that the werewolf was having some doubts herself. More than likely, she came here to impress her friends or family, which led Elod to the assumption that she would try to bring back some souvenir as proof. If she came back out again, then he could conclude that the ruins were safe...but then again, that did take the fun out of the whole deal. Instead, Elod settled himself against a tree to watch what she did.

Crystal padded through the old building, listening hard for any hint of ghostly sounds. All she could hear was the wind and an occasional groan from teh old building. She snorted softly and shook herself like a dog. This is just an old building, the only things in here besides me are wild animals... Ghosts aren't real. She spotted a half closed window that was higher than her head. She gave a short jump, grabbing the ledge and kicking her feet at the wall to pull herself up. she shoved at the top part of the window until it moved with a loud grating sound and a cloud of dust.
She let go and dropped to the ground. She landed on her feet, but a thunderous sneeze, caused by the dust, knocked her back onto her behind. She bounced back up and then ducked as a large black thing flew in through the window. She laughed, it was just Gormegon, her friendly pet bat.
"Why hello there, did you decide to follow me once it got dark?" She let him perch on her wrist so that sh ecould scratch his velvety wings gently with her fingers. The bat chirped and then flapped off, leading her. She giggled and padded after him. He could see better than her in this dark, or at least he could move better. She let herself fall into the habit of pondering what type of bat he was while she followed him, listenign in case the roof decided to fall in.
In the dark she didn't see the worn spot on the floor. She stepped right on it and plunged down with a shrill and terrified scream. She caught the edge of the hole with one hand, wincing as some sort of metal dug into her palm. She ignored the pain for a moment and swung her other arm up, grabbing the edge with her other hand. Grunting and straining she pulled herself out of the hole. She sat a few feet away, panting and dust coverd. 'My folks are gonna kill me...' was all she thought as she recovered from her fright.

Elod's eyes followed the werewolf girl as she ventured into the crumbly old building. Part of him anchored his feet right where they were, "Better safe than sorry," this half of Elod's mind told him. In disagreement, Elod's more adventurous side shoved him on, "Go on, live a little dangerously, whats the worst that could happen? You're a vampire, right?" "Hunters," Elod thought to himself, "That's the worst thing that could happen, but the chances of them hanging out in a place like this...well, there wouldn't be many creatures to disturb them, so not that unlikely." Taking a deep breath, Elod decided he wanted to know what went on in this place once and for all, and strode across the crunchy dead leaves to the large gaping entrance.
In a few steps, Elod was inside the dusty gloom. If it weren't for his vampire senses, he would've been completely blind in here, but as it was the dark was welcoming to Elod. A loud sneeze echoed throughout the dusky corridors, presumably emitted by the werewolf female. "Not very stealthy at all," Elod felt himself thinking, hoping that there really weren't any hostile beings inside here; if there was, then that surely alerted them to an unwanted presence in their den. As he listened closer, Elod could also her her talking to someone; very peculiar.
Making his own way through the musty relic, Elod examined the walls and floors curiously, wondering how this place had come about. Now that he was inside and unharmed, the building seemed oddly fascinating to Elod; one could only guess what had transpired inside these walls. A high pitched shriek pierced Elod's ears and his thought process, causing him to jump and turn about. If the girl had just run into someone with malicious intent, then he could be in danger too, but from all Elod could infer, a spider might've landed in her hair or something. Elod risked a tentative look around to corner to see what was going on.

She shook herself off, sending up another small cloud of dust and making herself sneeze softly. Gormegon flapped around and then glided away, leading her forward. Now she focused on the floor as well as on dangerous sounds. She poked her nose into a room that was propped open. She stared at the place, it looked rather strange. The room was as if somebody had crossed a jail cell with a hospital room and then left it all to rot. She pushed the door open a bit further and then stepped in. A rusted nail was hammered into the wall, a quick sniff confirmed that it had once held a calender up. A vase, now coated with dust and supporting several cobwebs, with heaven knows what within it, sat ontop of an equally dusty and cobweb strune table beside the remains of a bed. The bed itself was well made, as if it hadn't been slept in at all.
"I wonder what happened here..." She said softly. It wasn't really a question, just a statement. She sighed. 'Grab a souvenire and get out of here girl.' The sensable part of her was yelling. She ignored that part and slid out of the room, intent on more exploration. Gormegon chittered softly from where he hung on an old florecant light-tube.

To Elod's relief, it appeared as if the girl had just stepped on some faulty flooring, and in no time she was back on her feet again; exploring. Elod flitted off in a different direction, gliding across the dull floor to turn a rusty doorknob and slip into a cob-web filled studious looking room. The room Elod had just entered into had a slightly moldy smell; the lily pad green wallpaper was peeling and the wood floor was in dire need of a polish. Papers were scattered hither and thither all over the desk, and a grimy looking pale white mug sat alone on it's scratched oak surface; the inside stained from coffee. Elod blew some dust away from his face, using his left hand to sweep aside a few unoccupied spiderwebs that blocked his vision.
It was now visible that there was a dark maple bookshelf sitting against the room's left wall; lined with hundreds of faded, crumbling books. Elod reached his left hand out curiously, pulling a random book off the shelf and carefully flipping through the old yellowed pages. Messy ink scrawl scattered itself across the parchment, blabbing about something to do with medical conditions that Elod didn't have the background to properly comprehend. His left pointer and middle finger followed the lines anyway, as Elod mentally read out whatever he could understand.

Crystals curiosity led her to a heavy oak door that was rotted at the base. She sniffed at it, peering into the slits at the. It was locked, but it was also so rotted that a person half her size could have broken it down. She reached up and brushed ehr hand over the dust covered plate on it. "OFFICE" was printed on it in large bold letters. 'OHH!!! This will have interesting things to take in it I bet. I could steal some sort of record or a tool of some kind, then there'd be no doubt that I was in the ruins.' She thought excitedly. She hit the door with her left shoulder and it fell in with a loud groan, landing on the hardwood floor with a thud that shook the floor itself.
She started at the sight of the young man who stood there, looking at a record. She blinked slowly. Was the man a ghost, no he looked too solid and real to be a ghost. Gormegon flapped in, chittering at the man and then landing on a beam above him. Finally she swallowed the lump of fear that had gathered in her throat and stepped forward, hand extended for a greeting.
"Hey, I'm Crystal... Crystal Larksong... you are?" she asked curiously.

In the midst of perusing the confusing document, Elod's head jerked upwards in surprise, away from the test he was reading, as a large creaky noise followed by a crash sounded just behind him. Whipping around, Elod's golden, tawny brown eyes quickly registered that it was merely the werewolf girl, again. Elod noted that she appeared to be as nervous about the meeting as he was, and judging by the wooden door lying on the ground, she had just knocked it off it's rotted frame.
Elod started as an unexpected fast moving dark creature zoomed past his right ear, chattering away. Cautiously watching it settle on an unstable beam above his head, Elod decided it was a bat; probably the werewolf's pet judging by it's fearlessness around hominids. The girl had now extended her hand, introducing herself to him. "Hi," Elod replied, still a little nervous about the whole ordeal, "I'm Elod Springfield," he finished, shaking the offered hand with his right, the book closed and tucked underneath his other arm.

"Do you live here?" She asked, smiling as she shook his hand. Her own hand was bloody but she paid it no mind. She was used to getting hurt and bleeding. She often took tumbles when goofing around with her friends. Not to mention that she had gotten into more than one fight before they had all gotten used to one another and had found their positions in the 'pack' that they formed. She glared at Gormegon, the bat was being rude.
"Hehe, I'm just trying to show my friends that I'm braver than them. A leader should always be brave right?" She was a friendly and happy-go-lucky person. Her clashing outfit stood out even in the near blackness of the abandoned building.
"Do you think there are any bones or anything in here?" She asked, still curious and not really giving him a chance to answer any of her questions. She bounced around the room, poking her nose everywhere. She gave a loud yelp when a large, hairy spider crawled out of a small opening she investigated. She had jumped back upon seeing the hairy thing, and now she skittered around the room, trying to stay a good distance from it.

The blood on Crystal's hand looked very inviting to Elod right now; it was about time for him to feed again. In an effort to resist the urge, he settled for licking up what she had left on his palm while she was turned in the other direction. In the meantime, Elod watched Crystal bounce energetically around the room, asking many questions without giving him the time to answer. She was wearing a very unusual outfit, Elod thought; he couldn't help but wonder whether she picked such a clashing combination on purpose, or whether she just threw something together on the spot.
Elod eyed Crystal as she continued leaping all over the room in a hyper manner. As she examined various nooks and crannies, a large furry looking spider crept out towards her; disturbed from it's sleep. Elod watched in slight bemusement as she bounced away from it with a yelp, cautiously keeping her distance. Not particularly bothered by spiders, nor interested by them and other animals, Elod casually swept the disgruntled arachnid back into it's hidey hole with his foot, turning back to Crystal.
