Crystal was glad for time off. She was having fun right now, but she wasn't able to run, much to her annoyance. Calcifur and Lucifer walked ahead, their contrasting coats of long and short, dark and light marking them as two different dogs, although they were the same breed and from the same litter. Calcifur barked and lunged as a squirrel scrabbled across their path. His brother Lucifer regarded it easily and continued his easily strolling walk.
Crystal smiled, for the fact that they were litter-mates and brothers they were so different. She loved that about them. Long-haired and lighter in coloring Calcifur was energetic and lively, so she had named him after the living fire in Howl's Moving Castle, Lucifer was his opposite, patient, calm, almost wicked and dark with a sleek pelt, she had named him for his 'cat and mouse' way of interacting with other dogs.
Crystals sleek black oriental padded beside her on a harness leash, herding the rabbits that hopped along contentedly. Rawcus, as the cat was called, seemed to think that all the rabbits were her kittens, and treated them as such. She had whined for a few moments when they had left the two lop-eared bunnies and the tiny Netherlands dwarf at home. Besides those 3 rabbits the snake, the fish and the bat had also stayed home.
Crystal sighed and looked around. She loved walking her pets, it was always a great deal of fun. She smiled as they got to an open field. "Dogs may be off leash if they are trained. Don't forget to SCOOP YOUR POOP." Read a sign at the edge. She grinned and swung her backpack off. Her red and white plaid shirt and tartan kilt were the closest matched outfit that she had, and she wore a forest green cowboy hat and a pair of knee length black army boots, laced only half way, to accent herself.
She dug through her brilliant orange backpack and set some dishes down. Two pie tins, the sides curled down on one and left up on the other, which she filled with water for the rabbits and dogs, and a pink clay dish which she filled for the cat. The smaller creatures settled themselves to drink and rest. The dogs wanted to play though. With a smiling laugh Crystal dug out their toys: a Frisbee, a rawhide bone, 4 different balls and and an old tennis shoe. She set the toys out on the bench and grinned.
"What do you want to play with?" She asked her dogs. Calcifur lunged and grabbed the Frisbee, shaking it around and growling playfully. Lucifer picked up the rawhide bone and padded into the brightly lit field to settle down and chew on it. Crystal laughed and played tug-of-war with Calcifur for the Frisbee before throwing it. It went soaring off, the long haired German shepherd racing after it baying like a hound on the trail.
