Rayne acted as if the railing along the pond was a trapeze. She walked along it, pretending to dangle in front of a two-thousand people audience. She kept her arms straight out to hold her balance. She wasn't exactly the most graceful person but she knew how to walk a tight rope. She heard walking awhile in front of her, so she turned her head up to see them. There was a couple holding hands.
"How sweet...." Rayne said solemnly. Ever since she had been changed, since Trevor had died, she had been this way. Melancholy at all times, although she could fake a smile or a laugh. She looked back down at the deep, dark water. She wished she could just jump in, just drown so she could be with Trevor. She felt as if it was her own fault he died. He died because she was too weak to fight the vampire off.
She took a deep breath and readied herself to jump in....Only, something was holding her back. A voice of some sort. In her own head, she realized. She was beginning to think she was going crazy. Well, she had always been a little crazy, but never so much that she heard voices in her head. She soon realized that this voice was Trevor's. She shook her head, trying to figure if it was just her imagination.
Don't do thisssssss........
The voice sounded in her head. Don't jump? She laughed out loud. She wasn't at all the person to follow the rules. She'd always been a rebel. She laughed in the face of evil. She took another deep breath and held out her arms so that she could jump into the tar-like, black water.

After a particularly delicious meal, Juliet had taken the long way back to her large gothic manor that she had inherited from her beloved mentor. The long walk back consisted of walking slowly through the park. It was a nice warm evening and people still lingered in the darkness. Most were human and Juliet was only slightly surprised that they would dare to stay out without the sun, almost all who lived in Dawson knew about what lurked in the shadows or had heard tale. But then, of course, she realized that most of the loiterers were couples. Little love birds walking close to each other with hands entwined.
Juliet stepped around a tree and found her eyes looking upon a girl that was balancing atop the railing of a bridge over a small pond. She stopped. This girl was alone and the smell was definitely not human. From her small distance, Juliet observed this girl. She seemed to be contemplating on jumping.
With her great ability of stealth, Juliet glided forward silently till she was not more than a couple feet behind the girl. Jumping will not kill you. Juliet informed her. Judging from the look of the situation, she had guessed that was what the girl was going to jump for. Trust me, I’ve tried. She added. This girl made her think of the time period after Helen had died and Juliet tried many different methods in hopes to kill herself. Obviously none worked.

Rayne jumped at the melody-like voice behind her. She almost fell, but quickly caught her balance. She looked at the woman, feeling foolish that she had been watched. The woman had dark hair and was quite pale. She did not smell like any sort of human, so Rayne guessed that she was a vampire. Rayne straightened her shouders and jumped down from the railing onto the pavement. Rayne was shorter than this woman, like almost all other people here in Dawson. Rayne cleared her throat and spoke confidently. "I wasn't jumping so that I could die," Rayne lied, "I was just doing it for the adrenaline. It gives me chills to do something like jumping from a 40ft bridge." Rayne smiled smugly at the woman, "You should know that, since you've tried, apparently." Rayne didn't want to be this bitchy, it was just something she did when confronted by a stranger. She didn't feel like being nice at the moment either. She was thirsty and tired from the long wait she had been through. She needed to feed, but resisted the urge so she could do this. Now that she was here, she had been stopped by this woman. How typical, she thought.
Rayne didn't notice all of the other couples walking around until the woman came to speak with her. Rayne had thought that she had been alone. She was wrong, apparently. How disastrous that would've been, she thought, if the people had seen me fall. This sent thrills down her spine. It was unenjoyable to think that she would get all of that attention because she had tried to kill herself. She blinked slowly and looked back at the woman, antirely ready for an argument.

She listened to the girl’s attempt to cover up what she was really doing. Adrenaline, right. Juliet smiled. If you say so. Juliet stepped past the girl and up towards the railing. After looking down at the dark water below she plucked some imaginary lint from her chocolate brown shirt. Turning around Juliet examined the girl up and down. She was a vampire but not entirely one with her vampire self. With a great learned practice Juliet ignored the girl’s snippy comments.
You look hungry. When was the last time you fed? Juliet observed. She could tell from the way the girl’s skin was even more pale and slightly ashy. After feeding it would be regenerated to it’s previous exceptional beauty the likes porcelain could not match.
It dawned on Juliet that she hadn’t even introduced herself yet or asked for the girl’s name. I’m terribly sorry for my loss of manners. My name is Juliet Blackwood. What is yours? Juliet wasn’t sure if her name would ring a bell in the girl’s head that she was the resident vampire queen of Dawson but if it did, it did. She would either know it right off the bat or would learn it later.

Rayne didn't pay much attention to this vampire's words. Rayne was tired, she had no time for listening to this woman. Rayne heard the woman ask about the lat time Rayne had fed. Rayne whiped her tongue along her elonged canine teeth and noticed they were dangerously sharp. Rayne knew she hadn't eaten since....She couldn't remember. Perhaps a couple of weeks? she thought. Rayne sighed and was about to answer this woman's question, but she ignored Rayne's lips opening to introduce herself. Juliet Blackwood. She'd heard this name, but couldn't recall from where. Maybe a big gossiper, she thought. Rayne scoffed. Rayne held pressed out her hand and shook Juliet's violently. If Juliet was famous, Rayne was oblivious. She hadn't payed much attention to anything around her since several years ago. Rayne dropped her hand and pushed it back into her skinny jeans' pocket.
"I'm Rayne Tranquille, I want something to quench my thirst and I wish you would leave me alone. Those, my dear, are your three basic ways to start either a conversation," Rayne stopped for a moment, as if it were a dramatic pause, "a complaint, or a goodbye. I would think you're smart enough to figure out which of those I want. I've heard of you though, so if you will, tell me, are you famous?" Rayne smiled deviously, showing off her pointy, pearly white canines. Rayne could hear mumbling awhile from where Juliet and herself were standing and hissed silently. Rayne already had a slithre of a headache, she didn't need the rest of it from annoying humans whispering about her. Rayne switched her head quickly to the prey she was listening to and shot an angry glare at them. If they want to stay alive, she thought, they'll leave. And, as she thought, the humans left, not tearing their eyes away from Rayne unforgivable expression.

The girl was flippant in her moods and what she wanted. At the same time that she tried to be rude and get Juliet to go away, she continued the conversation. Rayne hadn’t answered her the exact time that she had last fed which was a sure sign that she either had a terrible memory or hadn’t in a long while.
Juliet coolly observed the way the girl glared at the people passing by before answering Rayne’s question. She contemplated how to inform the girl that she was the ruler of all vampires and if challenged could finish this newling in moments. I am the resident master vampire. All of our species answers to me.
Including you and if you don’t like it you can leave, these were words left unspoken but were very much evident in Juliet’s tone and body language. There were many people in the park tonight and Juliet noted that Rayne was rather strong in her resistance to leave them be with her last feeding being so far away. Juliet mulled over the idea of perhaps taking this girl under her wing as Helena had done her. It was a possibility.
Come, we must find you a meal. I don’t take to kindly to blood crazed vampires destroying my city. Juliet took a step in the direction of the exit to the park. She hoped Rayne would follow because if she didn’t Juliet was sure that she would eventually have to kill her due to looming loss of control because of lack of feeding.

Rayne turned back to Juliet and watched her take a step toward the exit. What she had said about Rayne losing control, Rayne took offense to it. She thought this woman was just some ordinary vampire that was just trying to be nice to Rayne, to get her to not kill herself or starve herself, but Juliet- Juliet Blackwood- was the overlord of Rayne's unforgivable species. Rayne's glare softened as she walked quickly to Juliet's side. Juliet had a mean side, apparently. Of course, who wouldn't when they were supposed to look over all people of one species. There wasn't even one for humans, the humans just hired one for every country either by monarchy, communism by democracy. Juliet had to look over all of the world's vampires, she had the right to be a little cranky sometimes. Rayne looked up to that. And although she didn't want attention, she wanted someday for her to be the ruler of something. Vampire species might be that something, she thought hopefully.
"I wouldn't have killed anyone here when everyone was watching. I don't like attention much." Rayne admitted reluctantly. She bowed her head as she walked side-by-side with Juliet to the exit. Maybe she was getting herself into trouble with Juliet, it wasn't like it would be the first time. Rayne smiled cruely at the thought.

Juliet watched as Rayne’s eyes ceased their glaring and widened at the information. Juliet wasn’t the sole ruler of the species, but there were only a handful of them and she was one. Together they formed a council and meet every so often when a large issue was at hand. That was one place Juliet had gone recently. The council had been convened to discuss some matters. But she didn’t need to give Rayne the specifics. Vampires still had to answer to her wherever she went but she wasn’t the sole one.
You say that, but bloodlust is a powerful thing. It takes over your body and your conscious can only sit in the dark and watch in horror at what you are doing. She watched as Rayne came to her side obediently, her head lowered as if she was a child about to receive a punishment.
I’m sure your rational mind would have made you feed eventually. Juliet tried to give the girl some credit. She was rather strong after all. I am just here to make sure it happens. She smiled leading the girl out of the park.
Taking a left she led Rayne to one of her favorite spots to feed. Most of the people who came to this bar were of the criminal kind and the world wouldn’t miss any of them if they mysteriously disappeared. Entering the bar, Juliet looked over at Rayne. It isn’t too hard to lure one outside. Being a female helps. Juliet had brought the girl to this location in case she felt bad about taking an innocent life. Her eyes watched Rayne closely. If she came back in, Juliet would still be here, she would like to learn more about this girl.

Rayne laughed quietly to herself. "You think I can lure one out? Yeah, let's see how that works out." Rayne scoffed and crossed her arms. She thought she wasn't that pretty, not since she had been changed and had seen Trevor being killed. She tried to not remember the horrifying moment and it worked. None of the memories came rushing back like they usually did. Just nothing, oddly. Rayne swayed on her heels back and forth while waiting for something to happen, maybe a person to walk outside oblivious to the two female vampires that stood before him or maybe waiting for Juliet to shoo Rayne away. Rayne wasn't sure what she waited for, she had never been sure what waited for her beyond her life, if it was to ever end.
Rayne gulped and looked up at Juliet, "Perhaps I could try, for hunger's sake." Rayne shrugged and gallantly strode into the bar seeming without a care. She stood in the doorway, looking over different men, people and women. She spotted a fat, chubby man with sweat beading on his forehead and his face red. He stood before a nice-looking woman with blonde hair. Rayne immediately recognized her as a vampire, there was no doubting it. Rayne must have felt some kind of twitch in her thoughts, because suddenly she forgot everything about the vampire and the sweaty, fat man. She turned her head to a beefy, yet skinny looking man in front of her. She reluctantly chose him as a snack, letting her feeding instincts take hold. She walked to the man, who was alone, and tapped his shoulder. The man swung his head over his shoulder and turned completely when he saw tiny, short Rayne. She batted her eyelashes and made a 'come hither' motion of her fingers and eyes. She kept their eyes together as she walked backwards out the door, careful of bumping into any other citizens.
