Alexandria Starrling was downright pissed. She had started her day in a good mood but now, at noon, her mood had turned sour. She had gotten a call from a clothing company who had contracted her to design a line for spring. She had sent in her designs a week before after spending hours on them. They had called to tell her that they liked her ideas but were wanting to go a different direction. They wanted something more like Rhianna when she had given them Paramore. They thanked her very much but were going to send her designs back to her. She had spent hours on this project for nothing. Was she not going to get a break in anything? Bartenders didn't believe she was of age, random people thought she was a troubled little girl whose parents were crack heads, and she couldn't even fucking get laid.
"I hate my life." She snarled and threw her phone against the wall as hard as she could. This was probably not the smartest thing to do because her phone broke as it hit the wall really hard and landed against a glass figurine with toppled over and shatter on the tile floor. "Fuck." She cursed, carefully walking over and picking up the phone. She would clean the glass up later. Right now, she needed a new phone. What if some client called and she didn't answer? They would probably just go to some other designer. Stupid humans with their need to have everything immediately. She pulled on her shoes and left made for the door, grabbing for her wallet on the way out.
Alexandria made her way down to the first floor of the apartment complex and completely lost interest in getting a new phone. So she went to Starbucks instead. It was twenty paces from the door to her apartment complex. A Venti white chocolate frappachino would make her feel better, she was sure of it.

Elod awoke just as it was turning dark outside; it was almost as if vampires had an opposite inner timing system, the absence of light woke them instead of the presence of it. Rolling sleepily out of bed and onto the floor, Elod reached an arm out for his trench coat, which was hanging over the back of a dented, beat up brown chair. The blue bed sheets had piled themselves up lonesomely against the end of the bed, Elod never used them, they felt too strangling. The house wasn't his, of course, it was the apartment of a recent victim; after all, what need did the dead have for possessions or money?
Now awake enough to process the situation, Elod pulled on his dark olive trench coat and turned the scratched golden yellow doorknob that lead to the white tiled kitchen. "Time to figure out where this person kept their coffee," Elod thought to himself, still a little groggy from sleep. At random, he began rifling through the spotless wooden cupboards, in search of his usual "breakfast" staple. To Elod's slight frustration and dismay however, it appeared that either the human occupant of this household didn't care for coffee, or they had run out not long before he arrived. "Fine," Elod muttered to himself, snatching some dollar bills off a nearby counter, "I'll go buy some then."
The walk to the nearby Starbucks was a short one; a few blocks away at most. Coffee was a convenience that most people seemed to crave; enough so that you could go just about anywhere in the world and not be far from a fresh caffeine fix. Slipping into the store inconspicuously, Elod searched the interior of the cafe with his eyes, until he spotted the shelf where they sold their specialty coffee. Elod headed over to the goods, and eyed the different labels, attempting to locate the ground black coffee he was looking for.

There was something about the Starbucks on Brooklyn Avenue in Dawson to which Alexandria took a liking. Perhaps it was the calm colors or the roomy layout or maybe it was the decor. Whatever it was, it felt like a place to be. Normally, Alex hated the coffee icon. It felt rushed for good reason. People came in on their way to work, there wasn't time to sit and chat. This one had character. It was a diner before the popular coffee shop had moved in and they had opted to keep a few booths. This is probably what drew her in, a place to sit and relax that wasn't one of those stiff chairs with their little round tables or an armchair with hopefully a side table located nearby.
Paying for her drink, Alexandria dropped down into the corner booth, her chilly coffee resting on the coaster provided. She pulled her wrecked phone from her pocket and bit her lip. Her Razr was caput. It wasn't like it was the best phone, it freaked out on her all the time, but she still needed it. And, it was dark. What phone place was going to be open when it got dark. She sighed bitterly, tapping the poor dilapidated phone that was now hanging together by wires. She sighed heavily. If she was lucky, the local electronics store was open until like ten. Doubtful, but she was allowed to hope.
Taking a sip of her coffee, she smiled. It really did make her feel better. It got her endorphins running and her energy up. Alex flicked her phone across the table and right as it fell off onto the bench, she heard it ring. She jumped up and grabbed it and hit the green button. "Hello? Hello?" It was no use, the ear piece was broken beyond saving. She sighed again and dropped it, returning to her coffee drink.

Elod's sharp eyesight picked out the royal blue label of his favorite coffee brand; perfect. Just as he swept it off the shelf and went to pay for it, keeping his head down so not to attract unwanted attention, he spotted a red headed werewolf sitting at a table behind him, glaring irritably at a beaten up cellphone. Elod couldn't help but be intrigued, and wonder whether she broke it on purpose, or it just accidentally fell out of her pocket and got stepped on. Judging by her guilty look, he guessed it was the former.
"Are you going to pay for that," the Starbucks employee behind the counter asked questioningly, giving Elod a suspicious look. "Oh, yes, right," Elod muttered distractedly, pulling some money out of his olive coat pocket and depositing it on the counter. A ringing sound startled him, and he turned around to see the girl scramble to grab the phone off the opposite bench, attempting to answer it, but to no avail. Even though Elod was sure it was anything but funny, he couldn't help but find the battered piece of technology oddly bemusing.

Alexandria took another sip of her frappachino and shrugged, tapping on the screen, it was dark. She moved her gaze to the window, it had to be like eight, it couldn't be that much later. Hopefully, she could pop down to radio shack and grab something. Easy as pie. She didn't want to go just yet thought. All of a sudden, she got the feeling someone was watching her. Her nose flared and a shiver crept down her spine. She turned her red head sharply toward the register. There was someone watching her, a vampire by the smell of it. He didn't smell bad, just different. Her blue eyes caught his and she blinked and looked back at her drink. Why was he watching her? She didn't know and shrugged it off.
Alexandria drank some more of her coffee and stood. She knew she should get to the store and fast. Boy how glad she was that she had all her contacts saved to her sim card. One last glance at the vampire, the strikingly handsome vampire, she might add, and she left the door. Mentally abusing herself for thinking that about a vampire. She was a werewolf. They were enemies according to some unwritten law. She shivered and pulled her jacket close around her and she walked out into the cold air, it didn't help that her drink of choice was blended and cold. She laughed at herself out loud. How silly was she jumping ship as soon as a vampire showed up, and complaining of having cold coffee she bought to be like that. With a snicker, she tossed her broken phone in the air and caught it. She was being silly.

"Do you want a bag for that?" the Starbucks employee asked Elod. "No, I'm fine thanks," declined Elod, eager to leave and get away from the curious humans. Just as he was turning around to leave the store, the red haired werewolf glanced up from her frappuccino and battered cellphone, making direct eye contact with him. Elod was a little startled, and hoped he hadn't irritated her by watching her. Her blue eyes quickly left him alone though, and he once again relaxed.
Somewhat absent mindedly gathering up the blue coffee bag, Elod turned around once again to see that she had already left the store; in a hurry. He could see her striding across the sidewalk outside, disappearing out of sight from the Starbucks windows. Elod shrugged, it was time for him to get back to the apartment anyway, before it got too late in the evening and he missed valuable time. Pushing the Starbucks door open, he strode across the grey concrete path, passing by and ignoring various stores full of everything from fashion accessories to cooking supplies, most of which were closed. Looking up, he realized that he was walking in the same direction as the werewolf, as she was only a few yards in front of him; pure coincidence.

Pulling her jacket even tighter around herself she heard footsteps behind her. She could tell by the scent wafting through the air that it was the vampire. They didn't smell bad. Just different. They didn't have the human smell, they smelled just different and that was that. Her breath caught in her throat but she continued her usual fast paced walk. She swallowed hard and moved to the side of the walk, bathed in the shadow. She leaned against the side of the building and waited until the vampire passed her. Her brushed her hair from her eyes and set her coffee on the ground. Her hands were so cold. She rubbed them together and then shoved her hands into her pockets.
"Hello Vampire." She said as his shadow approached.

The werewolf girl in front of him moved aside; disappearing into the shadows by the side of a building; or at least to a human's eye. Elod could still sense her presence, and would have noticed it even without seeing her walk there. It wasn't long before Elod had caught up to her, and upon reaching the spot she was standing by the dark building, she greeted him. Elod was having some trouble telling whether she was being friendly or not. Not being very talkative on even the best of occasions, he was having even more difficulty coming up with something to say back. In the end he just settled for the average phrase, "Hello. I'm Elod; Elod Springfield. Nice to meet you."

Alexandria peered at the vampire for a moment before shaking her head and crossing her arms across her chest. "Alexandria Starrling." She replied with a tight lipped smile. She wasn't used to giving out her whole real name. Usually it was just Alex, or on occasion, Andria. He didn't seem the talkative type. "What are you doing?" She asked. First, she'd seen him in the coffee shop and then she'd left with him leaving right after her. Did it worry her? Yes, but she wasn't going to let that on. "Are you following me, Elod Springfield?" She looked at him and shuffled her feet, knocking the frappacino that was by her feet over. She looked down as the melting blended drink slid across the sidewalk before looking back up at him.

Elod listened as the werewolf reluctantly revealed her name to him; she was being very cautious, obviously the fact that it looked like he was following her on purpose didn't help. Personally, Elod didn't blame Alexandria for being careful, as he was very much so himself. "I was just getting some coffee," Elod stated truthfully, gesturing to the blue coffee bag, "there wasn't any left in the cupboards." Elod watched Alexandria eying him somewhat suspiciously, and he couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Being looked at analytically by a werewolf made him feel less than safe. Then, Alexandria asked if he had been following her, shifting her position and accidentally knocking over her cold caffeinated beverage in the process. "No, no, I'm not following you," Elod said hurriedly, "This is the way toward the apartment I'm staying at. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable or anything," he finished, watching the light brown liquid from Alexandria's coffee cup trickle into the cracks on the pavement and run down forlornly onto the side of the street.
