Stefan sighed and kept his hand on his belt. He sworn himself to a duty and he couldn't walk away from that no matter what. There were plently of times that he had to hunt down students anyway, why was this time so different? Galient and Ayre both were extremely skilled. Some of his best but now they were vampires and he had to hunt them. He had to kill them. Even if it meant death for himself. Stefan knew it was Galient that killed that human. He could tell from the way Ophelia and Ayre reacted. Vampires slipped up of course but that didn't mean he would give an mercy. Stefan wished he didn't have to hunt them down. It was his job though. There was no room for regret. He wasn't sure if he would find Galient or Ayre again to night but if he did there would be a fight. Stefan drew the gun from its holster and held it tightly in his hand, walking and waiting.

When Galient had left Ayre and Ophelia he had taken a turn or two, so much that he thought he had gone in a complete circle. But when he saw the street light ahead, glowing brightly in the distance in front of him, he knew he had only turned slightly, or had turned so much that he'd gotten back onto a straight path. He walked up to it and swung around it, spinning in circles, and he fell to the ground after about five turns. He sighed and ran his hands through his hair, groaning. He thought that he could get something through his head, instead having this disorientation feeling, but it wasn't like that. It was like it got worse. It was like he was in a fishbowl. Or looking through a crystal ball. There, seeing it all happen, but not really processing what was happening because he couldn't feel it. It was hard to focus, and he closed his eyes. He wanted everything to go back to what it had been, before everything had gotten mixed up. Before Ayre had found him. Everything had been fine before that. And then it was like a soap opera, everything in dimmed lighting and mysterious. Nothing really clear. But before the only part that had to be clear was Ophelia and Galient being together, being happy. Not anymore. It had to be about keeping away from humans, staying away to any hunters, fighting off old friends to keep one lover. It was all too complicated, and Galient just wanted to turn back time. To make it so he hadn't ever met Ophelia, even though he would be deprived of love, and he would've never felt the fulfillness he had with her, and would've had to feel empty and lonely for the rest of his life. He felt that way. he pounded his fist on the ground and screamed, not even realizing he had until he opened his eyes at the echo from the tress nearby. He breathed harshly and bit his lip, shaking his head. "Why is this such a big deal...Why can't we all just be happy together and alive? Who gives a shit about species!" He spoke, whispering loudly. He closed his eyes again and rested his head against the light post, the cool metal on the back of his skull.

The male hunter paused for a moment as a scream echoed off the trees around him sending birds from their perch in the trees and up into the sky. Why couldn't escaping certain things be as easy as flying away for a bird? Instead people had to run around like mice in a maze just trying to get free. What did it matter to him at the moment though? His main duty right now was to find them before he got attacked and accused by the Hunter coucil. He understood why they were so uptight but sometimes it just went a little over the edge. Stefan sighed and brought his attention back to the scream. It wasn't a high pitched scream of pain or fear. It was more like an angry scream. Vampire or no vampire he figured he should have checked it out anyway. Stefan kept his steps quiet but his strides huge. He didn't want to waste time walking slowly. Stefan finally stopped once he felt himself getting close to the area. He took that time to check to see how many bullets he had in his gun, if the safety was off and what weapons he should use if is in a fact a vampire. Stefan smiled lightly in approval at his array of weapons and he finally began walking once again.
"I thought you got over those temper tantrums of yours a long time ago, Galient."Stefan said, tilting his head to the side slightly in curiosity. Stefan always knew Galient had kept some of his pent up anger and feelings till he was about to explode but that had been a while since Stefan had seen him. No doubt things had changed. More than just his species too. Ayre on the other hand liked to sit there and rant about a lot of things till he ran out of steam. Both were very different people. He had always been surprised they had gotten along so well over the years. Stefan sighed and raised the hand with the gun in it, pointing it at Galient. The Hunter licked his lips and bit down lightly on his lower lip. Would Galient put up a good fight or a disappointing one?

Galient opened his eyes at the sound of Stefan's voice and he shot up, sitting straightly. He felt his joints try to make him stand, the instincts kicking, the fear of the bullets shooting into him, but he forced himself to sit there. He outwayed the pros and cons of being alive. Yes, he'd have Ophelia and possibly Ayre is he fought off Stefan, which was a good possibility because Galient was almost as good a fighter as Stefan, and that was three years ago. Who knew how good he'd gotten after he was changed, too? But, then, if he gave up and let Stefan kill him. He wouldn't have to deal with the fact of killing one of his best friends and mentor. He wouldn't have to watch Ayre and Ophelia possibly die if he fled from Stefan, and witnessed the Hunter Council come up when they were needed and told about Galient and Ayre's condition. Galient took a deep breath and leaned back against the light post, outstretching his arms. "Stefan, I don't want to get you in trouble. If you have to kill me, do it. Just make it quick and painless, please." He closed his eyes and bit his lip. "My life isn't as important as Ayre's and Ophelia's. They're good vampires, I swear to you. Just promise me you'll leave them. Tell the council you found me changed, and Ayre was no where to be found..." He squinted his eyes open and swallowed harshly. "Promise me that, Stefan...before you shoot me." He said sternly.

Stefan shook his head in a slow melancholy manner. He lower the gun, momentarily, with a frown. "You know I can't do that Galient. As much as I would love to put this whole visit behind me and lie my way through the council I can't. I knew the risks when I took this job. This is the kind of moment that the council is so weary about. A teacher being to weak to face their students who have been turned. It' a cruel thing but I won't go back on my duty." His eyes narrowed and he raised the gun again. If he killed Galient no doubt Ayre and Ophelia, if not one then the other, would hunt him down to the ends of the earth. "Besides, there are no good vampires no matter how hard they try to be. You should know that by now." His other hand rested on his belt. "Before you were surprised at my hesitance about hunting you and Ayre but I hope you don't hold it against me now that I have gotten rid of all doubt."Stefan cocked the gun and his finger tightened on the trigger, not quite completely pressing down on it. He would have to work fast when burning up Galient's body. After all just simple gun shots wouldn't work. They provided a nice distraction thought and they were fast weapons too.

It was a good thing Stefan had hesitated to shoot Galient, because in that small time frame, he had changed his mind. When he had closed his eyes, Ophelia's face had popped up. And he felt this undying urge to stay alive. And to do whatever it took to do so. Galient stood up, his vampire speed taking over, and his instincts taking complete control of his thoughts. He raced to Stefan and wrapped his arm around Stefan's neck and pulling his arm without the gun around to his back, forcing it into an uncomfortable position. He licked his lips and could feel Stefan's pulse beneath his fingers, on Stefan's wrist. Galient's vision focused in and out and his fangs elongated frmo his gums. No. He wouldn't feed on Stefan. No! Galient screamed out and readjusted his grip on Stefan, so he couldn't feel his pulse as much. "You hesitated. That was the first rule you ever taught us." Galient huffed a laugh and quickly kneed Stefan in the back, holding onto his arm and neck still, and tightened his grasps. "Never. Hesitate." Galient smiled meniacly and chuckled darkly. His eyes widened in surprise as he held fiercely onto Stefan. What was he turning into?

Through the sudden striking pain Stefan chuckled breathlessly and smiled. "Very clever, Galient."He muttered. He could tell something was different with Galient though. Stefan squirmed slightly trying to see if he could find any spot of weakness in which he could slip out without pain but there was none. He wasn't surprised at all. Stefan shifted the gun slightly in his free hand and bit down on his tongue in effort. He wasn't as young as he use to be but he wasn't that old either. Stefan knew he could handle Galient. It would just take a little bit of time. Instead of firing off the gun and potentially wasting bullets Stefan slipped it into his belt. Since Galient was shorter than Stefan he had to bend down a bit more. He then rammed his elbow into his opponents side and wrapped his foot around Galient's. Stefan then threw all his weight back on him leaving the only option for Galient to either slide back or fall creating the right moment to slip out. Stefan tossed his head back as well, smashing it into his former students face. He then picked up his feet using his weight to slip out of Galient's grasp. Stefan fell on his hands and knees quickly scrambling up and pulling his gun out again. Stefan was taken aback for a moment as he finally noticed that during his attempt to sqirm from the vampires grasp he had dislocated the shoulder of the arm that he had grabbed. With a grimace Stefan popped it back into place and stepped away from Galient a bit more. This time, without hesitation, Stefan fired off two bullets. He didn't want to waste them all because it would take a bit to reload and he didn't have the time for that.

Galient yelped as the shots blasted, but no pain came. Until a few moments later. It was seething, so painful he wanted to burst. He fell to the ground, clutching his shoulder. Two shots had been fired, so it made the pain even more unbareable. They were right next to each other, on the upper side of his shoulder, next to his collar bone. He groaned and sat with his knees tucked in, his arms clutching each other for dear life. He took a depp breath and looked up at Stefan. "You son of a bitch!" He screamed at his former master. He breathed hard and moaned in pain and agony. As soon as Galient started to feel the strength in him come back, he felt someone coming closer. A scent, strong and powerful. Musty, and lean. Metallic. Bronzy. Joaquin. Joaquin Tristansi. Galient sucked in a tight breath and let it out hastily. "Galient!" He heard Joaquin yell as he moved toward him. Joaquin stopped next to him and knelt. Galient watched as Joaquin looked from Galient's arm to Stefan's gun, to Stefan. "You swine! You're the real monster!" Joaquin winced at Galient's wound and Galient groaned quietly, trying to hold it in. "This boy was one of your students! And you're killing him!" Joaquin made a low gutteral growl from his lips and stood up. Galient tried to stand up, too, but when he just tried to push up, it hurt him so much he fell back onto his back. "Damn it..." He moaned and tilted his head sideways so he could watched what happened. There was no way he could stop what was coming. It was inevitable.

Stefan flinched and scratched the back of his head with his free hand. He dropped it to his side and licked his lips. He looked down at Galient then back up at Joaquin before talking, choosing his words carefully. "Joaquin, when I took the job not only as a hunter but as a mentor I knew that one day this time would come when I'd have to kill a student, former or not. I never thought it may be Galient but I knew it would happen. Please, step out of the way and let me finish my job. I'd rather not hurt you."Ayre had just found his father. Taking him away would be something that even Stefan didn't want to do. Even if Joaquin was a vampire as well. Automatically he knew Joaquin wouldn't do it. Only a fool would be so easy to back down. Stefan figured Ayre got most of his genes from his father. In that case Joaquin would rather die then let Galient be killed, or any 'good' vampire. Stefan cocked the gun again and reached into his pocket, pulling out a lighter. Normal weapons did hurt vampires but they recovered from them quickly. Which meant Galient would be good as new in about a half and hour to an hour. That was, if Stefan didn't get to kill him. Fire on the other hand was a huge step up from normal weapon. Burn wounds weren't that fast to heal. Stefan wanted to be sure to get rid of Galient before he even tried to fight Joaquin. If he did have to fight Joaquin first then Galient would probably have enough to time to recover well enough to fight again. That would mean fighting two very well trained vampires.

Galient sat up painfully, grasping his shoulder and breathing through his teeth. He watched drowsily as Joaquin stepped forward to Stefan and readied himself to lunge forward. Galient and shook his head, gaining his strength back more quickly than he ever had before. Was it this new bloodlust that made him fight forward? Or was it the urge to save Ayre's only salvation he had left, whether he wanted it or not? Galient stood up weakly, shaking his head. "No, Mr. Tristansi," he spoke, breathing heavily, but regaining his alertness every second, "this is my fight." Galient stood up straight and let his hand fall from his shoulder. Galient glanced at it, and the wound was practically just a scar with blood around it. And Galient felt better than he had in the last few minutes, "I don't know what I'd do if I let Ayre's only bloodline relative die on my watch." Galient stepped forward and nudged Joaquin out of the way, getting out of the blast range. "Don't tell me what to do, Galient," Joaquin warned, his tone a bit more fierce than before. Galient replied with the same tone, "I suggest you follow my 'orders', Mr. Tristansi." And something flashed in Galient's eyes, that same red flash that had before. The one that had happened before he had gone beserk. It scared Galient a bit, but he needed that extra umph if he wanted to survive this fight without breaking much. As soon as that frightful flash went through Galient's eyes, Joaquin stepped back, his eyes wide, and he turned away from his sight. Galient turned to Stefan and sneered at him. "You have the same intentions I do. You don't want to hurt Joaquin because he's the only one Ayre has left. You care about Ayre the same as I do, if not more," Galient let a small, smug smile play on his lips, two small fangs slipping out onto his lower lip. "I knew you liked him more than me. It was inevitable. You found him first. He's more experienced. It's not like I didn't know that. What pisses me off more than anything is that I spent all those years looking for your approval," Galient's nostrils flared and he felt a low growl in his throat, the flash skimming through his eyes again, "and I never got one ounce of it!" Galient sprange forward, aiming for Stefan's throat, his fangs bared.
