Galient gaped at Joaquin, then at Ayre. He didn't know? Galient shook his head and decided that taking a step forward would be the death of him. Either inflicted by Stefan or Ayre. Galient took in a breath and looked up at Stefan. He wondered if Stefan thought that now since they were vampires, they were worthy of being killed. If so, was he just waiting until Ayre was done talking to his father? Or was he planning on saving Ayre and killing Galient? If so, it would be reasonable. Galient wsn't his best student. Ayre was. And Galient had changed Ayre. Not the other way around. Whatever happened to Galient, he deserved it, as long as it wasn't anything concerning Ophelia. Ophelia...He glanced behind him. Hopefully she was standing behind. If she was coming up any closer, they would be dead for sure. And by Stefan's hand. Ophelia would surely die. Galient wondered why Stefan hadn't killed the supposed Elod yet. He looked dangerous enough. Wimpy, but a fast runner. Galient raised an eyebrow. This night was going to be more complicated than he thought.

"You could have at least sent me something to let me know!"Ayre shot back. He felt his fangs elongate in his mouth. now he was slightly angry. His father had just left him and his mother to think he was dead! They thought that the whole time with no word of anything else. Those had been the worst years of his life just because his father was to much of a coward to elt them know he was alive?! Ayre froze when Joaquin asked about his mother. He clenched his teeth together along with his fists to keep from flying at his father. "Hows mother? How is she?! She is rotting six feet below the ground because of you! She never got over the news of your supposed death! She killed herself right infront of me! It's not like she bothered to keep it hidden. I. Watched. Her. Die."Ayre spoke the last sentence with such fury.

Elod was beginning to feel pretty grateful he had never liked his parents in the first place, at least then he wouldn't care if anything happened to them. It occurred to him that such a thought would probably sounds pretty heartless if he had said it out loud, but he really hated people who tried to fit others into a preconceived mold, and his parents were some of those people. Still, this situation was getting extremely intense, and definitely not safe, but at least the conflict seemed to be directed elsewhere right now. Elod thought about sympathizing a bit with Ayre's mothers death, but decided now would probably be a bad time and if he wanted to say anything he should wait until later.
In the middle of all the chaos going on tonight, it had completely slipped Elod's mind that he had been needing to feed for a while now, and he was starting to feel the hunger pangs again. "Great," he thought to himself sarcastically, "Splendid timing, instincts." He knew he'd need to get food sometime soon or risk losing control of himself, he was already starting to display the signs of a hungry vampire with elongated fangs and narrowed pupils.

Joaquin just stared at Ayre. April...was dead. Because of him... Because he hadn't sent any notice to say he was a vampire. Of course, like they would've cared. April probably would've committed suicide even if he was alive, even as a vampire. She would've had more reason to be angry than said. Who knew, maybe she would've started to search for him like he had searched for Ayre. Only Joaquin hadn't known Ayre was a vampire, too. Joaquin straightened up. He knew it was his fault for April's death, but he wouldn't show it. He wouldn't be a weakling compared to his son. "If I had sent a letter saying I was alive, there would be too much hope and you would've come to look for me." Joaquin glanced down at his feet, then back at his son. "And if I had told you I was part of the undead, your mother would've committed suicide anyhow! I thought I was doing the best by letting you think I was dead!" Joaquin shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. If he wanted his family to think he was dead, then why had he been searching for Ayre this whole time? To meet him? To be killed by his son, a hunter? So that they could live happily ever after together? As vampires? Would he have changed him? Joaquin bit his lip and stared into the eyes of his son. This was all too much.

Stefan stepped back a bit. Things were getting dangerous. If Ayre got any angrier he could snap and go after somebody. He looked at all of them. Elod looked just as uncomfortable and he,himself, felt. Of course being surrounded by a mixtures of hunter and vampires that could easily tear a person apart could be a bit nerve-racking for somebody. Stefan's hand rested on a weapon on his. Right now he wasn't occupied on which one it was. He was just ready for anything. With everybody focused on Ayre and Joaquin he could easily slip out but then what kind of hunter would he be? Stefan couldn't help but be troubled with the fact that there were 4 vampires around him and maybe even more coming. If he didn't spill some vampire blood somebody would be given hell and it would probably be him. The council would be furious. Stefan learned that you couldn't hold any remorse but could he really kill two of his best students without feeling anything? That was really troubling. He was curious of the boys' stories though and how this all happened.

Galient glanced over at Stefan. He knew it! He had known it all along that Stefan was going to kill him! Galient bit his lip and tried to be strong. If he didn't change the subject soon, there would be a full-on vampire wrestling match, father-son part one. Galient swallowed and took a step forward, putting his hand on Ayre's shoulder. "Calm down. He's just trying to be a father, after abandoning you for so long." Galient glanced at Stefan and took a deep breath. "And if you're planning to kill me, make it quick. Leave Ayre out of this. It's my fault he's like this. He didn't choose it like I did." Galient felt good to tell Stefan this. He remembered the old days when Stefan was like his therapist. Galient felt so ashamed, he had to stare at the ground. What would happen to Ophelia if he was killed? She was strong enough to live alone...but how long would that last before Stefan would go after her?

Ayre looked over to Galient and sighed. "It's a little bit to late for that!"He snapped at his best friend. He then turned back to his father. "What did you expect Dad?! That you would pretend to be dead and mom and I would go on living our lives as the little happy family?! Maybe if you would have sent something telling us what happened I could have gotten help for her! There were no warning signs. One day she is acting fine and happy the next she has a knife to her throat spilling her own blood!" Ayre wasn't finished with his little rant. In fact he probably could have gone on for hours. Not that time even mattered anymore since he had an eternity. "And now what? Did you expect to find me and everything would be okay? That we would live out the remainder of eternity as a happy family?! That I would be okay with you suddenly appearing after twenty something years?"Ayre finally stopped for a moment. He began again with a calmer tone. "Her death wasn't your fault entirely. Maybe it is just the fact that as a teenager once she was gone everytime I fell asleep I had to relive her death over and over again. You weren't there. Nobody was there to help me through it. I had to face it all on my own. The only thing I had left to me was a name, a job and memories." Ayre sighed. He looked down and shook his ehad before looked back at him. "I hate to be acting like an angsty bitch because I know you had to go through hell too. I'm sorry for that. Don't blame yourself. nobody is to blame in a sitation like that. You had your demons and I had mine."

Ophelia watched from the protection of the woods, mind spinning. This wasn't heading in a very good direction, and she could sit her and watch forever as Galient was threatened. Is this what I caused? If I hadn't had met Galient, this never would've happened. If I didn't give him eternal life, this wouldn't have happened. If I hadn't had fallen in love, this wouldn't have happened.
There was one thing she didn't understand. Why did he keep treating her as if she was weaker than him. Galient had only been a vampire for a few months now, what made him think she was weaker? Apparently he didn't know with age comes power in the vampire world and being nearly 200 years old, she had all the power she needed.
She couldn't watch this play out while hiding behind trees anymore, while watching people she cared for be hurt. "If you want someone to kill, kill me." Ophelia said calmly as she stepped out from her hiding spot. "If I hadn't met Galient months ago and fallen in love with him, this wouldn't have happened. However, Galient asked me to change him on his own free will. He changed Ayre as a last resort because he was dying." She had to admit, she was shaking but she was trying her best to remain calm. "I won't hurt you, I have no reason to unless you give me one, weather you believe me or not is a completely different matter."

Elod's head was spinning, all this complicated back-story was being revealed that he had never expected. He had to admit he was pretty glad he wasn't involved, he never liked revealing very much about himself, in general he tended to be a very secretive person. So that was how Ayre had become a vampire, he had been dying, it was a pretty good reason in Elod's mind, hopefully the others would see it that way. He did wonder sometimes whether he would've been better off being dead than being a vampire, but it was pretty pointless thinking about it since he didn't really have the option to choose.
All these vampires talking about deserving to be killed by hunters made Elod feel extremely twitchy, especially since Stefan seemed to be fingering a weapon right about now. There was no telling who he was going for, and since everybody here seemed to be at fault for something or rather, Elod figured he may as well bring up the fact he needed to feed soon. "Um..." interjected Elod nervously, "I need to feed sometime soon...I was meaning to earlier, but I got distracted. I don't want to attack anybody by accident." There, he had said it. It was true, he didn't really want to attack anybody here, he generally went for criminals and people who didn't want to be alive anyways, not hunters. It was a pretty abnormal situation they had going on here, so many vampires and one hunter, Elod imagined Stefan probably felt as uncomfortable as he did since he was the only human, and no matter how good the hunter was he couldn't possibly fight off that many vampires at once if they all decided to attack. Not that that really made Elod feel any safer.

Joaquin stared at Ayre. He had the nerve to say that? He had the slightest nerve to say that to his father? Well, his pretty much unseen father, but still his own flesh and blood. Joaquin closed his eyes, clasped the bridge of his nose and breathed in and out very deeply. This was not the way Joaquin had pictured meeting his son. He had pictured something a bit more family-oriented. He let out a breath, letting something inside of him tickle, he didn't know what it was, but it was there. He opened his eyes, meeting Ayre's gaze, and gave him a sorrowful look. The next thing he knew, he was grasping onto Ayre with all of his strength in a tight hug. In the whole time they'd been standng there, neither one of them had showed any compassion toward one another. It was Joaquin's turn now. He had to show Ayre he hadn't wanted to walk out on him, but had, at the time, decided that it was the best. He knew now he had been wrong in some ways, but right in others. Joaquin swallowed his feelings and just held onto Ayre. "I'm sorry, Ayre. I didn't mean to be so heartless." And that was all he could bare to say.
