Galient opened his eyes as Ophelia's voice filled the room. He gulped the saliva in his mouth and shook his head, still not breathing. He looked at the girl and widened his eyes. This would not go well if he would let himself breathe. Or practically do anything but leave. He turned and raced for the door. As soon as he got out, the cold air brushed his face and wind whipped his hair around like a kite on a summer day. He finally let out a gasp and breathed in slowly, filling his lungs with the fresh air. Hopefully everything would be alright as soon as the ambulance came. He sighed and leaned against the wall. Being a vampire was harder than he thought.
He slid to the ground and closed his eyes, leaning his head on his knees. He swallowed again and hummed to himself. Then he heard the faint wail of a siren about five miles away. They would take her out soon, which meant he'd be able to go back in. Of course, seeing a guy out on the outside of a bar, cringing in hunger wasn't exactly the least conspicuous thing you should see. He stood up and walked around to the back of the building, hopefully out of sight from any cars or ambulances that would pull up.

Ophelia watched as Galient darted out of the bar from the stage. She could feel it; his need for blood. It was insatiable. A shiver rolled up her spine as she stood there, a little spaced out. Shaking off the feeling creeping into her nerves, she jumped back down to the girl on the floor to look for her pulse. It was faint but still detectable. Ophelia sighed in relief and looked up to see the red and blue lights of the ambulance through the bar windows.
Ophelia stood when the paramedics came in and rushed out to look for Galient. 'I have to get him home. He needs to feed!' Frantically, her eyes darted from side to side searching for him. "Galient," she whispered "Where are you?" Letting out a shuddery sigh, she pulled the collar of her raincoat closer to her and trudged around the back of the building. "There you are," she said reaching out for his hand. "Come on, we have to get you home." Her tone was very worried and at this point she was shaking. There was something in the pit of her stomach that just didn't feel right. She just hoped everything would be alright.

Galient looked at Ophelia, his eyes darting and switching their focus from behind her to her face. He shook his head and turned away, closing his eyes. "No...just leave me alone..." He started to walk the other way, but then he felt a strange pull on his back, like there was a froce keeping him from leaving. He shrugged it away viciously and started to run away, trying to think of some place where he could just feed and get it over with. The park...he thought. He started to sprint in the direction he thought was the park. On the streets he saw couples holding hands, their pulses practically the same as if they were made for each other. He saw stray dogs and squirrels, cats and skunks, a lot of wildlife. He gulped and kept running until he got to the park. He glanced around, his eyes still focusing in on nothing in particular. He fell to the ground, dizzy and hungry.

Ophelia stood there for a minute, just watching him run. It had started to rain again, pour was more like it. She was drenched in a matter of seconds. Ophelia sighed and clenched her fists. She had to catch him, before he hurts somebody. She had to stop him. Taking off her jacket as not to slow her down for what she was about to do.
Ophelia began to run after him, breaking into vampire speed to boost her momentum. When she was about three yards behind Galient, she sprang to him, grabing him on the shoulder to spin him mid-step, and proceeded to pin him to the ground with the force of at least twenty human men. "Listen to me!!" Her voice was harsh, almost a growl, but not yelling. The only thing that screamed was the look in her eye, like a bright blue fire had sprang into existance. "If you feed off any living creature you will become addicted to it. Not only that, if you feed in public, you will reveil to the town what's living in it." Ophelia gave a shuddery sigh and continued. "Galient, you made a life out of protecting all living things. You do this, you lose everything you stand for! Understand!?" Ophelia clenched his wrists tightly, nearly snarling down at him, her soaking white hair falling into her face.

Galient tried to direct his eyes away from her, trying to stay away from her icy blue glare. But he couldn't. He gave in. He looked up and he nearly melted on the pavement. As he listened to her, he realized she was right. If he killed anything...it was like he was going back on everything he'd believed in as a hunter. It was like he was betraying everyone he'd ever loved and cared for. Like his friends...and his master...his family. His breathing became harsh as he started to feel unstable, like he was about to burst into little pieces of guilty Galient, all over the sidewalks and grass. He closed his eyes, still on the ground, and nodded. "You're right..." he said, then opened his eyes, but didn't look at her, "Help me, please..."

A soft sigh escaped her lips and let his wrists loose from her tight grip. Ophelia let herself drop and layed on his chest. What was this feeling inside of her? Sheer terror? Sorrow? No. It was the need to protect. Galient filled her so much, she wanted nothing more than to protect him from anything and everything. Right now she just wanted to protect him from the monster he could become...and the rain beating down on them.
"Let's just go home, okay Galient?" Her voice was hardly a whisper as she looked up at her loved one. Her eyes had seemed to soften in the rain, however, it was very hard to tell that she was crying. Letting out another sigh she got to her knees, pushed herself to her feet and reached her hand down to Galient with a calm, forgiving look. "Come on, love."

Galient gulped, then looked up at her. He shook his head. "No...I mean...I don't think it's right for me to--" he choked on the last word. He sighed. He swallowed again and took a deep breath. He bit his lip, then stood. Soemthing was wrong with him. Maybe it was just the fact that he was adjusting to this new life, but something...something underneath was pushing out. A monster. A devil. Something vicious that waited in the depths of his soul, but he had kept it quiet for so long. Until now. He knew...he just knew that he wouldn't be able to keep control one day. He would just bust out and everything would go wrong. He would lose everything. Ophelia. His life. That was all he owned. He turned away and started walking.

'Why' was the only word that came to mind. Everything felt like it was in slow motion as Galient turned from her in the rain. She didn't want to be alone again. She wasn't going to lose the one thing she gained in all these years to a simple hunger. It was his first bloodlust. Ophelia couldn't expect it to go smoothly.
However, it was selfish of her to say she didn't want to be alone again, it wasn't fair to Galient. Ophelia let out a long breath and grabbed at his wrist. "Why?" Her voice was stern, but not angry. "Why can't you? Because you think you're a monster? Because of what you could be? It's your body Galient, your mind. You choose what you do, not what your body wants to. You're going through changes now that will test your limits of human emotion. You have to know where you stand." Ophelia let her hand slip from his wrist and turned away. "I'm going back home, follow me if you wish to." Then started walking in a slow and steady pace through the rain, secretly hoping he would follow...but she knew it had to be his choice.

Galient's eyes closed. He was scared to breathe, but did anyway. The rain would help the scents wash away. He glanced at Ophelia as she walked away. He couldn't let her go. Maybe he was afraid, maybe even a little selfish, to leave her. He didn't want her gone and he wanted someone to hold. Someone to be with for eternity. How often would he come across another Ophelia? He opened his eyes. Of course there was the factor that he could go crazy, but she probably knew what that was like and would, hopefully, help. He swallowed his saliva and stepped along behind her, catching up to her. He caught her wrist, just as she had his, and spun her around. He looked down, his head dangling from his shoulders. He raised it slowly and squinted his eyes, his brows furrowing. He gulped again and took a step towards her. "I wish to be with you." He smiled a half-smile. His hand trailed up her arm and to her neck. He put his other hand on her cheek and kissed her lightly, but it was more than a peck. He closed his eyes and laid his forehead on hers. "I can't leave you...It's impossible."

Ophelia's heart fluttered as she felt Galient's grip on her wrist as he spun her. She also couldn't help but blush at his words and kiss. For some reason or another, a gigantic smile just lit up her face and she held him very closely, nuzzling his chest. "Let's go home, okay? I have an idea for dinner."
Looking up at Galient, her jubilant smiled faded into one of complete serenity. She stood on her toes to kiss him again, clenching the wet fabric of his shirt tightly, the rain continuing to pour from the sky. This is where she felt content; where ever Galient was. It didn't matter where they were. If they were in Dawson, fine. If they were in New York, fine. She knew that she couldn't be alone anymore. Galient was her eternity. Stepping back, Ophelia slipped her hand into his and pulled Galient gently forward, beginning their walk home. The rain stopped.
